Adjectives are words used in a language to describe or modify nouns and pronouns, providing more detail about them. Their primary functions include:

  • describing qualities or characteristics,

  • indicating quantity,

  • specifying possession,

  • pointing out particulars,

  • comparing nouns and

  • clarifying nouns

Using adjectives effectively allows for more expressive and vivid communication, enriching the details in both spoken and written language. They help to paint a clearer picture and evoke stronger imagery or emotions by highlighting specific attributes of the nouns they describe. This is no different in Cantonese.
